Empty Bowls Helsinki is an annual event that takes place at the atmospheric Crypt of the Helsinki Dome. Ceramic and glass artists have donated handcrafted bowls and local restaurants donate delicious soups and bread. The first Empty Bown event was organized in Helsinki in 2003.

Eva Spoof from the ceramic studio Udumbara Helsinki donated bowls made of Finnish Kultela clay and invited Patternsfrom Agency designers to participate decorating the bowls.

The 2018 Empty Bowls Helsinki takes place on Saturday, September 15 at 11-14 o’clock. In exchange for a cash donation (minimum 25 €) visitors get to enjoy a delicious soup lunch and choose a handmade bowl to keep as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. Empty Bowls Helsinki’s donations go to the Finnish UNICEF emergency fund. Empty Bowls event raised over 11000 euros in three hours last year.

Do you run a charity project?

Collaboration with Udumbara Helsinki is the first of its kind, but hopefully not the last. Our aim is to continue collaborations with different kinds of charity projects by offering textile or surface design services. If you have a suitable charity project in your mind, please contact us! We are more than happy to hear more!
