Are you into sewing and planning to visit Helsinki for a reason or another? Fancying to return home with a nice bunch of Finnish indie-label fabrics? Let us give you a tip for fabric shopping in Helsinki!

You should be heading the very downtown of Helsinki, to the exiting Torikorttelit-area which is located between the market place and Helsinki Cathedral. Torikorttelit has plenty of small boutique shops and trendy cafés next to another. Somewhere over there (actually on Katariinankatu 1) is located a place called Salapakka, Hidden Fabric Roll. They sell indie-label fabrics from Finland, as well as all other stuff needed for sewing. You can read magazines and get inspiration for your next sewing project. If you are in the need, you can even sew right there, as Salapakka has sewing machines and overlocks for public use. You can even participate one of their workshops, which they organize on a frequent basis!

Why Salapakka?

The perhaps best part of Salapakka is, that they are the reseller of the small fabric collection of Patternsfrom Agency! Our first, and so far only collection includes four different patterns in two color versions. The fabric is 100% cotton twill, with the Öko Tex label, which is perfect for both clothing and interior projects. The fabric is available in 1-3 meter pieces.

You better hurry, as the collection does not last for long! In any case Salapakka is worth a visit for people into sewing. We can guarantee that you will find plenty of Finnish indie fabrics back home.

Happy fabric shopping in Helsinki!
